About the Coal Merchants Federation

The Coal Merchants Federation (GB) Ltd was established in 1962 and is part of the Solid Fuel Association.

We have representation on both the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme's National Panel, and Area Panels, and we act as the co-ordinating body for liaison between coal retailers and wholesalers.

Anybody wishing to join the Coal Merchants Federation must first apply and be accepted into the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme, which will then lead to automatic membership of the Federation.

The Coal Merchants Federation provides it's members with a range of benefits as outlined on the Services Page.

Regional Committees

Membership to the Coal Merchants Federation is on a regional basis with committees set up to take care of the members in their area.

There are 11 Regional Committees including the Coal Merchants Association of Scotland, who are affiliated members.

The regional committees strive to promote the domestic use of solid fuel and ensure that their members, who are all Approved Coal Merchants, are up-to-date with all relevant legislation with regard to Weights & Measures, Health & Safety etc.

This website currently contains members for the South West and Southern Regional Committee, the London and East Anglia Regional Committee, the North Wales Regional Committee and the West Wales Regional Committee.

Ensuring Quality

Each member of the Coal Merchants Federation are also members of the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme and agree to uphold the Coal Trade Code of Practice which offers the consumer the opportunity to buy their solid fuel in complete confidence from professionals who are proud to offer such high standards.

We're Here to Help

We offers consumers a line of recourse if there is a problem which cannot be resolved with their approved coal merchant.

We offer coal merchants, via the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme a range of benefits not least of which is inclusion of a free listing on this website.
